The centerpiece is a solid collection of water slides that range from family-friendly tube slides to more aggressive body slides that'll get your adrenaline pumping.

The kids' area is particularly well done, featuring a pirate ship play structure with smaller slides, water cannons, and plenty of interactive features that keep little ones busy for hours. Parents can actually relax here because the shallow water areas are well-designed and easy to supervise. The lazy river winds around a good portion of the park, and floating through it gives you a nice overview of everything while you catch your breath.

There's also a decent-sized wave pool that generates some solid waves every 15 minutes or so. What sets Pirates Bay apart from other Texas water parks is the attention to theming without going overboard. It feels cohesive but not cheesy.

The park isn't massive, which means shorter walk times between attractions and less chance of losing track of your group. Food options cover the basics with pizza, burgers, and cold drinks, though prices are typical water park expensive. Get there right when they open if you're visiting on weekends or during peak summer days.

The shade structures are adequate but bring an umbrella if you're planning to stake out pool chairs. Cabana rentals are worth it if you've got a larger group or want guaranteed shade. The park tends to draw families with elementary and middle school aged kids, though there's enough variety to keep teenagers entertained.

It's not going to compete with Schlitterbahn for thrills, but for a regional park in the Houston area, it delivers solid fun without the massive crowds.
