Older kids and teens gravitate toward the body slides and tube slides, which offer enough speed and twists to satisfy without being too intense.

The lazy river here is genuinely relaxing - not too crowded, with plenty of tubes available when I visited. What really sets Lakeside Splash apart is how well-maintained everything feels. The water stays clean, the facilities are in good shape, and the staff actually seems to care about keeping things running smoothly.

The wave pool operates on a predictable schedule, so you can time your visits perfectly. Food options stick to the basics - burgers, pizza, nachos - but the prices are reasonable for a water park. The shaded seating areas are a lifesaver during Gilroy's hot summers, and there are enough lounge chairs that you don't have to race other families at opening time.

Cabana rentals are worth it if you're visiting with a larger group or want guaranteed shade all day. Parking is free and plentiful, which is always appreciated. The park works best for families with kids under 12, though there's enough for teenagers to enjoy too.

It's not going to wow thrill-seekers looking for extreme slides, but that's not really the point. This is solid, dependable family fun without the overwhelming crowds or premium prices of larger parks. Get there right when they open during peak summer days, and don't forget to reapply sunscreen constantly - Gilroy gets hot and there's not as much natural shade as you'd hope.
