Disney's Blizzard Beach is one of two Disney water parks at Walt Disney World, and it's got this whole backstory about a freak snowstorm hitting Florida that left behind ski slopes and chairlifts. The theming is everywhere - you'll see melting snow effects, ski lodge architecture, and even slalom flags. The big draw is Mount Gushmore, this fake snow-covered mountain that houses most of the major slides.
Summit Plummet is the headline attraction - a 120-foot tall body slide that's legitimately terrifying. You literally drop straight down at 55 mph. It's not for the faint of heart.
For families, the Teamboat Springs raft ride is perfect - it's one of the longest family raft rides in the world and can fit six people. The lazy river here (Cross Country Creek) winds around the entire park and has some fun surprises, including a cave you float through. Tike's Peak is the kids area and it's well done with pint-sized versions of the big slides.
The wave pool (Melt-Away Bay) is more chill than aggressive, which works for families. What makes Blizzard Beach different from other water parks is the Disney attention to detail and the ski resort theming. The chairlift to the top of Summit Plummet adds to the whole experience.
Get there at rope drop - seriously, the lines get brutal by mid-morning. Disney Genie+ works here if you want to skip lines on the major slides. Bring reef-safe sunscreen since regular sunscreen isn't allowed.
The food is typical Disney theme park fare - overpriced but decent quality. If you can swing it, rent a cabana for shade and storage. The park gets packed during summer and spring break, so consider visiting during cooler months when crowds are lighter but the water is still heated.
