Adventure Bay at Adventureland is Iowa's largest water park, and it's actually a pretty solid addition to the main amusement park next door. The centerpiece is the massive wave pool that gets genuinely crowded on hot summer days, so grab your spot early if you want decent real estate on the beach area. The lazy river is long enough to actually be relaxing, which isn't always the case at smaller parks.

For slides, you've got everything from kiddie slides to some legitimately thrilling body slides that'll get your heart racing. The racing slides are fun if you're competitive with your group. The kids area is well-designed with smaller slides, dumping buckets, and plenty of interactive water features that keep the little ones busy for hours.

Parents can actually sit in the shade nearby and keep an eye on everything, which is clutch. The food situation is typical water park fare, but the portions are decent and the prices aren't outrageous compared to other parks in the region. Pro tip: if you're planning to hit both the water park and the main amusement park, get there when they open and do the water park first when you're fresh.

The Iowa sun gets brutal by afternoon, and the concrete gets hot enough to fry an egg. Cabana rentals are worth it if you've got a big group or want somewhere to stash your stuff safely. Parking is free, which is refreshing since a lot of parks nickel and dime you.

This place works great for families with mixed ages because there's legitimately fun stuff for teenagers and adults, not just kiddie pools. The theming isn't Disney-level, but it's clean, well-maintained, and the staff keeps the place running smoothly. It's definitely one of the better water parks in the Midwest.
