About Each Park
Waldameer Water World
Pennsylvania
Waldameer Water World sits right next to Presque Isle Bay in Erie, making it one of the few water parks where you can actually see real water beyond the slides. This compact park punches above its weight with a solid mix of attractions that work well for families. The centerpiece is a good-sized wave pool that gets crowded fast on hot days, so stake out your spot early. You'll find several body slides and tube slides that range from mellow to moderately thrilling - nothing that'll terrify younger kids, but enough speed to keep teens interested. The lazy river here is actually lazy, unlike some parks where it feels more like white water rafting. Kids gravitate toward the multi-level play structure with smaller slides, dumping buckets, and spray features. It's sized right for elementary school ages without being too babyish. The park feels more intimate than the mega water parks you'll find elsewhere, which parents appreciate when trying to keep track of their kids. Lines move reasonably fast except on peak summer weekends. Food options are standard water park fare - pizza, burgers, and overpriced snacks - but the portions are decent. Bring cash since some vendors still prefer it. The changing rooms can get swamped, so consider arriving in your swimsuit. Parking fills up by noon on busy days, and there's not much overflow, so get there when they open if possible. Lockers are scattered throughout, which is handy. What sets this place apart is the relaxed, local vibe.…

Pennsylvania
Splash Lagoon sits inside a massive 80,000 square foot indoor facility that stays a comfortable 84 degrees year-round. This place is a lifesaver during Pennsylvania's brutal winters, and it delivers exactly what families with young kids need. The centerpiece is a decent-sized wave pool that creates gentle waves perfect for smaller children to jump around in. The lazy river moves at a nice, relaxing pace and does a full loop around a good portion of the park. For slides, you've got a solid mix including a few body slides and tube slides that aren't too intense. The kids absolutely love the elaborate play structure with its giant tipping bucket that dumps hundreds of gallons of water every few minutes. There are smaller slides built right into this play area, plus water cannons and climbing nets. The toddler area gets its own shallow pool with mini slides and gentle water features that won't overwhelm the littlest visitors. Hot tubs are strategically placed around the facility, which parents definitely appreciate after chasing kids around for hours. The arcade keeps older kids busy when they need a break from the water, and it's bigger than what you'll find at most water parks. Food options are typical water park fare but reasonably priced for what you get. The pizza actually tastes pretty good. Get there right when they open to snag the best poolside seating since weekends get packed, especially during winter months. Rent a cabana if you're visiting with a larger group because…
