About Each Park
H2OBX Waterpark
North Carolina
H2OBX Waterpark brings solid water park fun to North Carolina's Outer Banks area without the massive crowds you'll find at some of the bigger regional parks. Located in Powells Point, it's perfectly positioned for families staying in the OBX who want a fun day off the beach. The park focuses on family-friendly attractions with a good mix of slides that'll get your heart pumping and gentler options for younger kids. You'll find several multi-story slide complexes with both tube slides and body slides, plus the essential lazy river for floating away the afternoon heat. The kids' area is well-designed with smaller slides, water features, and plenty of shallow water play zones that parents can actually relax near. The wave pool generates decent waves without being too intense for little ones. What I appreciate about H2OBX is the manageable size - you're not walking miles between attractions, and lines tend to move pretty quickly except on peak summer weekends. The park feels modern and well-maintained, with good shade options throughout. Food options cover the basics with typical water park fare like pizza, burgers, and snacks, though prices run typical water park expensive. Cabana rentals are available if you want guaranteed shade and a home base for your group. Plan to arrive right at opening during summer weekends to snag the best spots and shorter lines. The park works well for families with kids of all ages - there's enough thrill factor for teens and tweens, but plenty of options for toddlers…

Virginia
Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg brings that signature indoor water park magic to Virginia, and honestly, it's one of the better locations in the chain. The 79,000 square foot water park stays a comfortable 84 degrees year-round, which means you can visit in January and still have a blast. The centerpiece is Fort Mackenzie, a massive interactive treehouse with water cannons, tipping buckets, and slides that'll keep kids entertained for hours. The highlight is definitely when that giant bucket at the top dumps 1,000 gallons of water on everyone below - kids absolutely lose their minds over it. For the little ones, Cub Paw Pool is perfect with its shallow water and mini slides. The lazy river here is decent, though not the longest I've seen. What really sets this place apart is the multi-level water fort and the variety of body slides and tube slides coming off it. The racing slides are fun for competitive families, and there's a good mix of mild and wild options. Beyond the water attractions, you get the full Great Wolf experience with the animatronic clock tower show, MagiQuest wand game throughout the lodge, and themed rooms that make kids feel like they're camping indoors. This is 100% designed for families with kids 12 and under - if you're looking for extreme thrill slides, look elsewhere. The resort setup means you can literally walk from your room to the water park in your swimsuit, which is clutch with little kids. Book a Wolf Den…
