About Each Park
Great Peak Mountain Resort
New York
Great Peak Mountain Resort combines two of upstate New York's best seasonal activities under one roof. The Cascades Indoor Water Park gives you a solid water park experience even when there's three feet of snow outside. The space feels more intimate than massive resort chains, but that works in its favor. You'll find a good mix of attractions without the overwhelming crowds of bigger destinations. The water slides range from gentle family-friendly tubes to steeper drops that'll get your heart pumping. The lazy river is perfect for floating between activities, and the kids' area keeps little ones busy with smaller slides and interactive water features. The wave pool generates decent waves for body surfing or just bobbing around. Since this is attached to a ski resort, the whole vibe is more laid-back mountain casual than flashy tourist destination. Families with kids of all ages do well here, though thrill seekers might find it tame compared to mega-parks. The real magic happens during ski season when you can literally go from the slopes to the water slides in the same day. That's pretty unique for the Northeast. The facility stays warm and humid year-round, so pack light clothes for inside even if it's freezing outside. Lockers are available but fill up on busy weekends, so arrive early if you're visiting during peak times. The food court covers the basics without breaking the bank. If you're staying at the resort, you can pop back to your room easily, but day visitors should…

Pennsylvania
Sno Cove brings an Arctic theme to northeastern Pennsylvania that actually works better than you'd expect. The Tundra Tornado is their signature slide - a massive funnel ride that sends you and three friends swirling around before dropping you into the pool below. It's legitimately thrilling and draws the biggest lines, so hit it first thing when you arrive. The Baby Moose Watering Hole is perfect for toddlers and younger kids, with shallow water, mini slides, and plenty of dumping buckets to keep them entertained for hours. Parents can actually relax on the adjacent lounge chairs and keep an eye on everything. The park sits in a natural valley setting that gives it a more secluded feel than most suburban water parks. You'll find a good mix of attractions here - several body slides for older kids and teens, a decent lazy river that actually moves at a reasonable pace, and a wave pool that generates solid waves every 15 minutes. The theming is surprisingly detailed throughout, with ice cave entrances to slides and plenty of polar bear and penguin decorations that kids love. Food options are typical water park fare but reasonably priced for the region. The pizza is actually decent, and they have those huge turkey legs if you're feeling adventurous. Lines move pretty quickly except on peak summer weekends when the Tundra Tornado can hit 45-minute waits. Cabana rentals are worth it if you're coming with a large group - they include food service and give you…
